Niger Tornadoes chairman Dr Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso has confirmed that renovation work at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna will resume immediately, with the aim of completing the project before the new NPFL season kicks off in August 2026.
The stadium — also known as Minna Township Stadium — has needed repeated rounds of upgrading in recent years to meet Nigeria Football Federation club-licensing specifications. Niger Tornadoes have at times had to play home matches away from Minna as a result, including a run of fixtures hosted at Lafia City Stadium.
Kuso said the club will return to Bako Kontagora Stadium once the renovation is complete, ending years of the Ikon Allah Boys travelling outside Niger State to play what should be home fixtures.
