Niger Tornadoes have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Gusau/Ahlan Pre-Season Tournament following a convincing 2–0 victory over Katsina United's junior side.
The Ikon Allah Boys took control of the encounter early, with Bashir Musa opening the scoring in the 15th minute. The forward unleashed a powerful long-range effort that caught the Katsina United goalkeeper off guard and found the back of the net.
Just four minutes later, Rickson Mendos doubled the advantage after reacting quicker to a loose ball inside the area before calmly slotting it home to make it 2–0. Tornadoes continued to dominate proceedings for the remainder of the first half and went into the interval with a comfortable two-goal cushion.
Katsina United Junior returned for the second half with greater determination, seeking to reduce the deficit and get back into the contest. However, the Tornadoes defence, marshalled by Sunday Akinmoladun and Abdulazeez Yusuf, remained resolute and dealt effectively with the opponents' attacking threats.
Despite several substitutions made by both sides in the second half, neither team could alter the scoreline as Niger Tornadoes held on for a deserved 2–0 victory.
The result sees the Ikon Allah Boys advance to the quarter-finals of the Gusau/Ahlan Pre-Season Tournament as they continue their preparations for the 2026/27 season.
