
Niger Tornadoes have concluded a three-week pre-season programme and will now complete preparations in Minna for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League opener against Enyimba on Sunday, 30 August.
The Ikon Allah Boys began with a week-long training camp in Abuja before moving to Zaria, where they played a number of friendlies, including a 2-2 draw with Ranchers Bees in Kaduna.
Coach Kabiru Dogo's side then travelled to Katsina for the fifth edition of the Gusau/Ahlan Cup, reaching the quarter-finals before losing to Kwara United on penalties after the match finished 1-1. They had earlier held Barau FC 1-1 in their opening group match, and followed the tournament with a goalless friendly against Nasarawa United.
Dogo thanked the club's management, led by Chairman Dr Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso, for backing the programme, and said the newly renovated Bako Kontagora Stadium will give the squad a chance to settle on the new playing surface before hosting Enyimba at 4:00 PM.
